Es distingeix els quatre grans grups ling\u00fc\u00edstics europeus: <strong>el rom\u00e0nic, el germ\u00e0nic, el c\u00e8ltic i l\u2019eslau<\/strong>. Ateneu que el gr\u00e0fic mesura la dist\u00e0ncia l\u00e8xica mitjan\u00e7ant el tramat de les l\u00ednies, i no altres aspectes com la gram\u00e0tica, que poden ser tant o m\u00e9s importants per a definir i classificar lleng\u00fces.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/elms.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/03\/lexicaldistanceielangs.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/elms.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/03\/lexicaldistanceielangs.jpg?w=443&amp;h=315\" width=\"443\" height=\"315\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Entre estos quatre grans grups es pot percebre que les lleng\u00fces <strong>rom\u00e0niques<\/strong> formen un grup m\u00e9s compacte l\u00e8xicament que no pas les lleng\u00fces germ\u00e0niques o eslaves, i encara m\u00e9s que les lleng\u00fces c\u00e8ltiques. En el cas del <strong>catal\u00e0<\/strong> fa de nexe d\u2019uni\u00f3 entre les lleng\u00fces ib\u00e8riques i l\u2019itali\u00e0. Aix\u00ed, hi ha una gran similitud (una dist\u00e0ncia l\u00e8xica menor a 25) entre les lleng\u00fces ib\u00e8riques: el castell\u00e0, el gallec\/portugu\u00e8s (fixeu-vos que apareixen junts!), el proven\u00e7al (?),\u00a0 i el catal\u00e0. El catal\u00e0 queda unit tamb\u00e9 a l\u2019itali\u00e0, este al romanx, i este al franc\u00e8s, creant aix\u00ed una l\u00ednia de similituds que va de banda a banda de les lleng\u00fces rom\u00e0niques, i on nom\u00e9s queda m\u00e9s desconnectat el roman\u00e8s . En oposici\u00f3, per exemple, entre les lleng\u00fces <strong>c\u00e8ltiques<\/strong> la dist\u00e0ncia \u00e9s molt major. El ga\u00e8lic (escoc\u00e8s?) i el ga\u00e8lic irland\u00e8s tenen una dist\u00e0ncia l\u00e8xica superior, igual que el gal\u00b7l\u00e8s i el bret\u00f3. En el grup <strong>germ\u00e0nic<\/strong> s\u2019observen dos grans grups: el format per l\u2019alemany, neerland\u00e8s i fris\u00f3, d\u2019una banda, i l\u2019encara m\u00e9s compacte format per les lleng\u00fces n\u00f2rdiques. L\u2019angl\u00e8s juga de manera m\u00e9s independent, i la similitud m\u00e9s forta la t\u00e9 amb el fris\u00f3, tot i que tamb\u00e9 funciona com a pont amb les lleng\u00fces rom\u00e0niques (franc\u00e8s) i les c\u00e8ltiques (gal\u00b7l\u00e8s).<\/p>\n<p>A m\u00e9s d\u2019estos quatre grans grups ling\u00fc\u00edstics, se sumen altres grups i lleng\u00fces m\u00e9s dispersos: el fino\u00fagric, el b\u00e0ltic, el grec i l\u2019alban\u00e8s. Desconec si les dist\u00e0ncies entre els nodes s\u00f3n proporcionals a la dist\u00e0ncia l\u00e8xica. Per\u00f2 en tot cas, el tipus de l\u00ednia que uneix cada d\u00edada de lleng\u00fces mostra una escala de fins a 5 graus de dist\u00e0ncia.
